Glorious Gold

I recently got a hold of some beautiful gold veiling (and I hope to get my hands on some silver veiling soon too).  I really love how sparkly the veiling is and think it would go beautifully with an ivory colored dress.  I've paired it here with a white flower here, but I it would look great with the blush colored flowers I have in stock too.  The possibilities are clearly endless...

Other Crafts: Whale Baby Mobile

I thought I'd also share some other crafts I work on from time to time as a way to mix it up a little bit.  There has been a virtual baby-palooza amongst my extended circle of friends lately. It's really exciting to have so many new babies to snuggle and it's also been fun to make things for some of these little people!

This is a mobile I made for my husband's cousin's little one.  The happy couple came up with a whale/ocean theme for baby Owen's room.  Originally I went searching for one on Etsy but I came across only one listing for this apparently very specific theme (who knew?!).  While the one I found was lovely, it didn't really fit the cuddly aesthetic I was looking for.  I decided to attempt to make one myself and figured if it was terrifying I could always start my baby gift search over.

To make the little whales I cut out and hand-sewed each little one and made sure to add some batting so they'd be a little squidgy.  The little whale faces actually had me the most perplexed because I could decide how to go about making them. (Clearly I was over thinking it.)  I ended up using the back end of a paint brush to get perfect little circles - go figure.  I added the details of the spouts (though E rejected my first attempt because he said they looked like a particular part of the male anatomy) and anchors to give the mobile a little more depth and character.  The final touch was the little crystals.  I thought they would be nice and eye catching for baby Owen!!  In the end the baby mobile was well received by Owen's mom and dad and apparently it matched the room perfectly (which is awesome, because I've never seen their house before, let alone the baby's room!)

Now I've got two more baby mobiles in my summertime crafting queue!! :)  ETA: Actually, I've almost finished one... but I'm not going to share pictures for a while... bwhahaha!!

Later this week be on the look out for two different DIY tutorials. I'm submitting them to the Dollar Tree Wedding Crafting Competition

Adorable Lily of the Valley Fascinator!

Okay - I know I shouldn't brag, but I'm super in love with these tiny little flowers and I can't help myself. When I stumbled across them a few weeks back I knew I had to have them!!  They remind me of Lily of the Valley flowers which is what Kate Middleton carried as her bouquet on her wedding day to Prince William in April 2011!!

White Lily of the Valley Flower Fascinator

This piece can also be mixed up a bit with tiny sky blue rhinestones!

I attached a few toupee clips which ensure it will stay snug in your hair - they're kind of my new favorite way of attaching fascinators.  This piece is also versatile enough that would also look great on a headband too.

Bow Obsessed

I will post some of my regular flower hair fascinators soon (since they make up the majority of the items in my shop) but I need to have a moment about bows... See, I've been kind of obsessed with everything and anything with bows lately. (And by lately, let's be real, I mean for the last year plus!!)  I love bows on SHOES, shirts, necklaces, dresses, bow ties, bow hair clips... My Pinterest board is pretty much FILLED with things with bows!

To help satisfy my bow obsession I've come up with some fun little hair clips for my shop.  So far, because I've sort of got a problem, I have three different sizes for ladies of any age.  (I think they're so cute! I can't help myself!!) I personally love to wear the bigger size.  They feel like fun little felt hats that mold gloriously to your head.  They also look SUPER cute on little munchkins! I've been sending them to some of my friend's little lovelies to test them out and I can't help but squee a little bit when I see them on.

Bows in action:  Little Lady bow & Double Dutch Bow
I've even created a custom order of a set of Little Lady Bows to give as a baby shower gift! And since these come in a variety of sizes it's easy to mix and match a gift set so the little lady can wear bows at any age.
