Baby Onesie Sets

Given my love for pets and babies in bow ties it was a given that I had to add a Baby & Pet Bow Tie onesie set to my Etsy shop. Now baby and pup can match for adorable everyday wear or for photo ops. I also will be adding headbands and matching pet bow ties to the shop in September! Either set would make a great shower gift for couples with pets.

Black with White Polka Dots Pet Bow Tie

A few weeks back I shipped out two large Black with White Polka Dots Pet Bow Ties for some fancy pets who were looking to dress up for a party their owner's were throwing. I love bow ties on dogs of all sizes, but there's always something fun about making bigger bow ties. (I've even made a giant bow tie for a mastiff!)

After the party, I got the cutest photo in my inbox. Just look at how handsome Jackson is. And can you see his 2 different colored eyes? What a cutie, and boy does he wear his bow tie well!

Custom Pet Art Figures

A little over a month ago I was contacted via Esty about a custom order. This customer had seen some of my custom baby mobile dog figures on my Instagram account and asked if I could make an similarly styled felt dog of her super cute Yorkie, Polly!!  Seriously, my customers always have the greatest ideas. I'd never thought of just selling Custom Felt Art Pieces before. We initially set up to have me make one Polly figure, but then we ended up with a few cute ideas and she purchased TWO Polly pups. With the second pup, I officially added this custom item to my shop.  (This customer also happens to be an awesomely talented Etsy shop owner. You should seriously check out her amazing hand painted drink coasters!! They're stunning.)

First let me show you how CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEE little Polly is. I'd seen a few photos in following her owner's Instagram, but was not prepared for the cuteness that awaited me in my Etsy inbox.  I mean, really? It's a little yorkie in a Mickey Mouse hat... BESTILL MY HEART!! Cuteness overload.

I needed a few more photos to try and get a sense of Polly's coat coloring so the cuteness kept coming.  I'm pretty sure I'd never be able to leave for work with this cute little one around.
When the final design ideas for the Polly Art Piece were ironed out, I to work. As with all of my pieces, it's always the little details that help bring the figures to life. Polly sometimes wears a little bow that forms the most adorable little pony tail on the top of her head. Taking a cue from that the first Polly figure had the same little detail.

Here's the first finished Polly figure. I forgot to mention, that Polly's owner had requested I added the button hole stitch that I use in some of my less detailed mobile figures and I was happy to incorporate that in the body portion of the figures.

The second Polly figure was, I'm sure you guessed it, the *adorable* Polly in a Mickey Mouse Ears Hat.  Sometimes, late at night, when I'm a bit tired, and a bit wired, I get a little bananas and end up experimenting to see justttt how small I can make certain details. I made the little Mickey head emblem that's on the front of the ear hat.

I can't figure out why this photo is sideways, but it's kind of fun. There's a very small red ring I added around the Mickey head emblem to finalize the details.

Here's her finished figure!!

Here's the Mickey Mouse Ears Polly figure from the back.

Here are the two figures next to each other. Polly v. Polly = cuteness overload x 2!!

The Polly's arrived to (sunny) California and I even got some super sweet and oh so prompt feedback on the figures, which is always really appreciated!!

Spring 2014 LPH Pet Bow Ties & Bows

Some fun new things have been added to the shop recently. Last spring, if you can remember back that far, LPH debuted our Lavender and Seersucker Bow Ties, which were a hit for both the spring and summer.  This year, in a desperate attempt to will the winter to end, I chose some bright and fun fabrics that are perfect for the ever stylin' pet. This week, the official Spring 2014 Pet Bow Tie & Bow collection was added to the Lavender Paper Hearts Etsy Shop. I fell in love with the flower print fabric when I used it to make some baby gifts for the holidays, and I wanted to incorporate it into bow ties for the new season.  Plus, I'm jonesing hard for all things spring and springtime feeling and that cute fabric makes me feel like spring will be here any minute!!

So a few weeks ago I walked the aisles of my local fabric store searching for the perfect materials to compliment the flower fabric. Stripes are one of those things that just never really go out of style.  That said, I picked a bright Lemonade Stripe fabric to help ring in the Spring (hello, Spring? Are you there???).  In a similar vain I fell in love with the Bright Sky Blue Polka Dots because they just felt right. I hope that polka dots stay in fashion for years to come - I love them!!

Here it is, the Spring 2014 Lavender Paper Hearts Pet Bow Tie & Bow Collection in Floral, Lemonade Stripes, or Sky Blue Polka Dots. You can find them listed in the Etsy shop HERE.

My bow ties & bows are all completely made by hand. I use cotton fabric to ensure softness for your pet with soft interlining to help the bow tie keep its shape. The bow ties are soft and flexible enough that they will not be uncomfortable for your pet in their day-to-day activities. They easily secured to your pet's collar with a hidden elastic band on the back of the tie which makes them easy to put on and take off. Should your pet have a little too much fun, the bow ties can be gently hand-washed and laid out to air dry.

*X-Small runs about 3 inches wide
*Smalls run about 4 inches wide
*Mediums run about 5 inches wide
*Larges run about 6 inches wide

Custom Mobile: Palm Beach Prep

Oh goodness, there is more cuteness in store for you today. I was contacted to make a mobile to match the Palm Beach Prep theme she had going for her new baby's room, and after a few back and forth emails to figure out exactly the details she was looking for, I have to say, I love the way this mobile turned out. This mobile included their two dogs in the fun. Both dogs are Boston Terriers with really amazing coats and markings so it was a fun challenge to mix up the standard Boston's I've been working on in several of my previous designs.

Check out these cuties. Aren't they beautiful!!  The pup on the left is a brindle, which means she looks just like a regular Boston Terrier, except her coat is kicked up a few notches. Brindles are generally predominantly brown with these amazing soft black sort of stripes that wisp throughout their coat.  The second pup has amazing coloring on the face and a blue AND brown eye!! Talk about some amazingly beautiful and different looking dogs!!

Here are the pups as felt figures! I was having a hard time with lighting the day I took these so it's a bit dark, but I promise it's brown! :)

The next piece in the theme were all about Florida and beach fun. I came up with this striped surf board (complete with back rudder which is why it photographs on its side). The colors compliment the raspberry pink and bright greens being used in the baby's room.

I am in love with this cute little flamingo. She was really fun to make!

A palm tree was one of the other figures that we worked out, as beaches and palm trees are tied together if we're talking about Florida, so I put the little palm tree on an island and added a little crab.

Here's a close up shot of the crab! I didn't know at the time, but it turns out that that my customer is originally from Maryland, so the crab was a meant-to-be perfect extra touch!! If I'd known, I would have made it blue, but the fascia works well in the baby's room.

This photo shows you just how tiny the details are on the crab. I thank the trusty "my husband was questioning whether they were wroth $25 or not, but bought them anyway for me for Christmas," scissors! Oh, and a good pair of tweezers, and a lack of sleep/sanity. Those helped too.

Here are the detailed extras I added to give the mobile some depth. We decided that a sun, a bird silhouette (they always remind me of the beach), and a starfish would be fun extras. As an extra-extra, I also added some clouds to the ring of the mobile (see photo below this one), and it really tied the beach theme together for me.

Here are all the figures just before being hung on the mobile!

How awesome is this Gif? Somehow my Google Back up turned my photos into this fun thing. I just wish the lighting was better when I took the photos (I edit them later) so it was a bit brighter.

Lastly, I have new ring styles available for the shop. I've made my last two designs using these flat rings and think that they come out super cute. The nice thing about these rings is that they can be wrapped in yarn OR painted to the color of your choice!!

Overall, this was another really fun piece to make. I love the creative challenge and also the excitement that these mobiles bring to me. The mobile was well received, and I hope to share photos of it hanging in baby's room.

Be sure to check out my other mobiles in my Etsy shop: Lavender Paper Hearts!!  If you have an idea for a custom mobile, please contact me through my Etsy shop, Lavender Paper Hearts! I love working one on one with customers to make the perfect mobile for your nursery.

Check back early next week for a preview of my new Spring 2014 Pet Bow Tie Line. Impatient? You can check out my pet bow ties here.
